Pretty as a picture

This was taken August of 2006 in the backyard of KP’s aunt and uncle’s house. It was a cute little condo in Laguna Niguel. SAH-WEEEET.

We slept with the windows open and it was awesome!

This is almost it folks! As soon as I post this one I’m going to start working on my 6:00 a.m. post, which will be last for this chick (at least for the Blogathon).

This was taken Sept 27, 2006 from the deck of the Diamond Princess. We were just leaving Mazatlan, Mexico.

Right brained or left brained?

You Are Right Brained In Love

Bit of a drama queen
Peacemaker, first to end a fight
Good at thinking up creative dates
Tend to fall in love and get hurt easily
Going with your gut instead of your head
Empathetic and caring, sometimes to a fault
Good at recognizing patterns in relationships
Been in love many times, perhaps too many to count
Wildly passionate and intense when falling in love
Spontaneous with relationships, going with the flow
Overly visual – can play back past dates like movies in your mind
Roses, love poems, and stuffed animals are a good start to winning your heart

Oh this is so not me

Didn’t I tell you guys I was right brained? It’s cause I’m a lefty.

This was taken when I worked at my favorite substation ever. Same place I go for coffee several times a week before work. I pink puffy heart those guys and gals.

Let’s get a little deeper

I have had lots of time to think in the last 21 hours, which can sometimes be a dangerous thing. My mind goes from one end of the spectrum to the next.

For example, when I go to a GA meeting, I lay it all out there. I express myself in ways I have never known before. I share what’s in my heart and in my mind. I share honesty, fear, doubts, happiness, whatever is on my mind.

I tend to do the same thing on this blog for the most part. I tend to make myself very vulnerable for people to take advantage or to know more about me than I am sometimes comfortable with.

I don’t know how to change this part of me. I don’t know that I WANT to change this part of me. I’ve become so comfortable in my skin, I tend to express myself no matter the consequences.

Now, at work I temper it a bit because I could get into a lot of trouble. LOL

I am currently feeling vulnerable, exhausted and sappy. I was grouchy earlier, now I’m just weepy. I just feel like crying. I have no real reason for feeling this way. Maybe it’s that I’ve been awake for 21 hours. Maybe because I’m going through some sort of phantom PMS symptoms. I don’t know.

My furbabies are sleeping right now and all I want to do is curl up with them, cuddle and cry myself to sleep.

I will have time for that in 3 hours. Until then, I sit in the chat room, I read some blogs, I check Facebook or Twitter for signs of life (they are both like ghost towns right now).

Until next time…

I’m quite exhausted. How’s everyone doing out there? My eyes are burning, my back hurts and my wrists are screaming at me.

I think prevention education is one of the most important factors when it comes to educating people on HIV and AIDS.

I think everyone, at one time or another, has put themselves at risk with a partner. I know that I have on several occasions.

I get tested every year when I go for my OB/GYN check up. Actually got tested twice last year cause I had two surgeries. The one in April and then the big one in October. Safe sex is the only option for me now. There was a time when it didn’t matter to me. Story for another day I suppose! LOL

Prevention Education
Education is the most important factor in reducing the spread of HIV infection. Through education, people can reduce their risk factors by changing their behavior and remain HIV negative. Below are two of the three areas of transmission,

1) Unprotected sex and 2) Sharing Needles:

Safer Sex

The only true safe sex is NO sex.
You can reduce your risk of HIV transmission by avoiding unprotected sexual contact with individuals who are infected.

Who is at highest risk of being infected?

Individuals who engage in any of these risk behaviors:

* Anal, vaginal, or Oral intercourse without a latex condom
* Sharing of needles (drug, tattoo, steroids)
* Intercourse with individuals with a history of STD’s
* Sharing sex toys that are in contact with body fluids

Proper Protection

* Latex Condoms- Latex condoms and latex barriers (used for oral sex) are the best protection. If you are latex sensitive, polyurethane condoms are also effective. HIV can pass trough Natural or Lambskin condoms
* Lubricants- Always use water based, not oil-based. Oil-based will break down the protection of the latex.
* Other protection- Female condom or plastic wrap

Discussing your own and your partner’s past sexual history can be a scary thing to do. However, there are very positive benefits gained from talking openly.

* Establishing open communication and trust
* Creating a relaxed atmosphere for enjoying sex. Remember, you are discussing a subject you are both concerned about
* Protecting yourself from HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases (STD)

The more people you have unsafe sex with, the greater the chances that you may become infected. The more people your partner has sex with, the greater your risk.Because a single unsafe sex act can be a risk, you should always engage in safer sex. Because HIV can be spread by blood contact, do not share needles, razors, or toothbrushes.

Sexual Guidelines :
Safe Sex
(NO RISK) Abstinence, Masturbation, Phone Sex, Sex with Uninfected Person, Social Kissing, Hugging, Body Massage, Mutual Masturbation, Body to Body Rubbing (as long as no body fluid is exchanged)
Safer sex
(LOW RISK) Anal, Vaginal, Oral Sex w/latex condom use (98% effective), French Kissing, Water Sports
Unsafe Sex
(HIGH RISK) Anal, Vaginal, Oral Sex w/o latex condom, Rimming,
Sharing Sex Toys, Enema, Douching Equipment, Fingering/Fisting, Fellatio

Sharing Needles
IV Drug users are a population that is at high risk for HIV infection. However, there are ways to help reduce transmission (harm reduction).

* Use a new needle each time.
* Sharing needles is a means of transmission of blood from person to person. Don’t use any needles/syringe that someone else has used.
* If you share needles, rinse the syringe out with bleach and water.

Remember, other risk factors are self body piercing, self-tattooing, skin popping, sharing needles for steroids, sharing razors and toothbrushes.

And now for something completely different!

This was taken back in January when it was snowing up in Redrock and here in the valley. I love the different colors in this. I wonder how it would have come out if I had my Canon Rebel back then? OH MAN!!!!

Sleepy? Grouchy? Dopey?

Yeah, that would be me. If I wasn’t so fucking tired, I’d go find pictures of the 7 dwarves, just so I could post them here and show ya how sleepy, grouchy and dopey I feel!

I’ve been so exhausted, I have NOT visited any other blogathoners in several posts. I need to do that. I believe I will do that after I post this.

This day, so far, has been one of excitement, exhaustion, interest and knowledge. I’ve learned so much about HIV/AIDS and I’m so glad I decided to do this.

I’m still in the chat room with the girls. I think if it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t have made it this far. Forgive me for not linking, but I want to thank several ladies for helping me stay awake tonight…..
