Hey there folks! I hope this post finds you well and you’re feeling blessed and moving forward!
Life today is a lot less crazy than it was the last time I posted. I’ve been working my part-time job and enjoying the days I get to do it. I never thought I’d find a job that would fit my college degree! My Associate’s of Applied Sciences is in Public Administration. PA degrees are geared toward public safety and/or nonprofit. I currently work for a nonprofit that helps compulsive gamblers find recovery and grow in life. I love it.
Besides my job, I’ve been doing a bit of creating. I have taught myself how to do all this, thanks to COVID! I got bored during COVID and before getting my job, so I decided to get crafty. Not only do I make mala bead-inspired jewelry, and wax melts (not as often as I used to), but now I paint with acrylic paints. I do acrylic paint pouring. I may not be able to draw a straight line with a ruler, but I can drop paint and then move it around to make pretty designs. I absolutely love it. My house is full of paintings I’ve done that are for sale on my Etsy shop, paintings The Aunt gets because there’s an imperfection on it, and paintings up on our walls. You can find my creations on Etsy at: Creations by KCB.
I’m currently teaching myself to repurpose old LP vinyl records and turn them into artsy clocks. I’ve done a few paint pours on them and am waiting for some clock mechanisms to arrive. Very exciting stuff!
Here is an example of the things I’m doing. This is a 6″x6″ square canvas from Michael’s. I used Artist Loft acrylic paints mixed with Floetrol and water (to make them flow better). Please ignore all the dog hair under it on my bed. LOL
Below the square canvas here, I put one of the vinyl records I poured on today. It’s an old record with scratches and it was impossible to play, so that’s the only reason I used it. I worked at a record store (Odyssey Records) for 5 years, I take vinyl pretty seriously and wouldn’t do this to a flawless vinyl.
And there you have it! This is what I’ve been doing to keep myself busy. I use it as therapy. It’s very relaxing for me and I am almost able to meditate while I do it.
Have a blessed day.
